| Mis-takes as learning experiences. I had such high hopes of writing this post. The Universe had different plans. My idea of putting photographs of my parrot paintings on a little slide loop is thwarted because I forgot to take the relevant photograghs. So this is a hot-potch. I painted three 8x8in canvases of parrots from photographs before I returned to my big intuitive 'Tortoise Man' painting. Painting from photos is a great way to see details and get to know your subject intimately. I then went back and repainted the parrot-in-the-pool and he gained a white mask. I tried to keep him fresh...and not let the photo dictate my image. Note to self - take those archival photos before the paintings have flown to new homes! |

Hey! I really like your parrot paintings! I really like bright colors, and they are fine examples of pleasing art. Your brushstrokes remind me of impressionist paintings. I have always like impressionist art like Van Gogh’s. There’s always something an air of mystery when you look at them. I paint a little myself and have made portraits to colorful landscapes. I still need practice in the coloring department though. But I do use a lot of colors. Good work! Keep it up!
